Thank you for choosing BluePrint Cabinets!
Here is what to expect after you order cabinets from us. Your order is underway, and this is where the fun part begins — over the next little while, your project will move from plans on paper to beautifully crafted cabinetry in your home.
Here’s a clear rundown of what to expect, from delivery day through to the moment your kitchen is done.
How Delivery Works
For orders shipping directly to you:
- Delivery is curbside only — the driver will bring pallets as close to your home as truck size allows, but this does not include carrying cabinets inside, assembly, or removal of packaging.
- Cabinets arrive boxed, palletized, and shrink-wrapped (typically on 4'×4' or 4'×8' pallets, or a combination).
- Your destination needs to be box truck accessible.
- Deliveries typically happen Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, scheduled within a 3–4 hour window.
- Your order will first arrive at a local freight terminal — the carrier will contact you directly to book your delivery. Once at the local terminal they do want to get it to you as soon as possible, but you’ll be able to find a time that works best for you, with them.
- Shipping charges cover one delivery attempt. Missed deliveries or rescheduling due to availability may result in additional fees.
- Cabinets are shrink-wrapped but not weatherproofed — move them inside as soon as possible, or keep them covered if that’s not possible right away.
For orders picking up in-store: we’ll notify you when your order is ready, and lead times will vary depending on colour and stock availability.
Delivery Day: What We Need You To Do
Whether picking up or receiving delivery, a responsible party needs to inspect the order before signing off.
- Inspect everything carefully before signing anything.
- Take photos of the packaging, skids, and any items in question.
- Note anything missing or damaged directly on the Bill of Lading / Proof of Delivery. Write the word “DAMAGE” next to your name on the form — this step is important and can’t be added after the fact.
- If boxes are damaged on the corners, take a peek to make sure the cabinets inside don’t have dented or dinged up corners.
- If damage wasn’t noted on the delivery paperwork, contact us within 24 hours.
- You’ll be asked to sign for the delivery — a signature is required in all cases.
⚠️ Claims for shipping damage can’t be accepted unless they’re noted at delivery and backed up with photos.
⚠️ Make sure to fully go through the entire order before putting in a missing item claim — sometimes items are boxed together.
⚠️ In some cases, certain items may be substituted with a different item that has been modified to meet the original item specifications. For this reason, boxes may be marked in marker to denote the box contents, which may differ from the original packaging.
Missing items must be reported within 5 days of delivery or pickup. BluePrint Cabinets covers one shipping fee per damaged order for replacement parts; additional claims may incur charges, and expedited shipping isn’t available for replacements.
Pro Tips for Unloading
- Understand the cabinet codes — it makes life a lot easier. A 30" wide, 12" tall wall cabinet is a W3012. A 30" wide base cabinet is a B30. A 30" wide drawer base is a DB30.
- Most cabinets ship in two boxes. For example, a W3012 comes as a W3012(A) and W3012(B). The (A) box holds the finished panels in your selected colour; the (B) box holds the universal sides, bottoms, backs, and hardware. Keep the A and B boxes for each cabinet together as you unload.
- Some items, like spice pull-outs and hoods, ship as a single box. Finished end panels, filler strips, and mouldings may also be bundled together in one box.
- Check off every item against your packing slip as you unload, even if you’re not assembling right away. The 5-day window to report missing items goes by quickly!
- Take it one cabinet at a time. A full kitchen means a lot of boxes — that’s completely normal. Once things are organized, the chaos disappears quickly.
Assembly & Installation Tips
- Don’t forget your end panels! Identify which cabinets sit at the end of a run or in an exposed area and need a finished side. Most cabinets include two unfinished panels in the (B) box — use finished panels where needed, and discard the extras unless you’re applying a ¼" skin panel.
- Every box includes instructions, and we also offer video assembly guides for each cabinet type — we’d strongly recommend watching the relevant video before you start each one: our cabinet assembly instructions (video guides for every cabinet type)
- It gets faster. Your first cabinet might take an hour. After that, you’ll pick up speed fast. Having a helper to unpack, organize, and hold pieces helps too (and they’re excellent at snack runs).
- Some specialty pieces, like small wine racks and spice pulls, come pre-assembled — no judgment if you still tell people you built them.
- Feeling overwhelmed? Call us. We can connect you with professional assembly or installation help if needed (for a fee) or, in the best case, solve your issue right on the phone.
One important note: cabinets are supplied ready-to-assemble, and assembly quality is the responsibility of the person putting them together. Damage caused by cutting, drilling, modifying, or improperly assembling/installing a cabinet isn’t covered under warranty or replacement — so it’s worth taking your time and watching the guide before you start.
Care & Maintenance
- No magic erasers, ever. Clean cabinets with a mild detergent only — avoid harsh chemicals and excessive water, and wipe dry after cleaning.
- Doors and drawers may need minor adjustment after your first full season. Changes in household humidity can cause wood to expand and contract as your home moves through its first heating/cooling cycle. This is normal. Once that first cycle passes, things typically settle, though occasional adjustments over time are common.
Warranty
We stand behind the hardware in every cabinet: hinges and drawer slides carry a lifetime warranty on moving parts.
A few things to know about coverage:
- Cabinetry is made from natural materials and industrial finishes, so some variation is expected — this includes differences in wood grain, colour, and tone, and colour variation between components or production batches. None of this is considered a defect.
- Natural aging or shifting of finishes over time, along with joint movement or minor cracking, is normal and not covered under warranty.
- Warping, fading, splitting, or discolouration caused by sunlight, moisture, humidity, temperature swings, or household cleaners isn’t covered.
- As noted above, damage caused by cutting, drilling, modifying, or improper assembly/installation voids replacement eligibility.

Recycling & Pay-It-Forward Program
Leftover mouldings, fillers, or panels after your install? Don’t pay to dump them — bring them to us.
We all misread a tape measure once in a while, and being one 30" filler short can stall a whole job. Our Pay It Forward Program keeps a small stash of extra pieces on hand so carpenters and DIYers can grab what they need, free of charge — no two-week wait, no buying an 8' piece just to fix a 30" gap.
- Items are available first-come, first-served, and while we’ll always check, we can’t guarantee we’ll have the exact piece you need.
- Please bring only uncut, undamaged pieces. Fillers and mouldings need to be at least 30" long to be accepted.
- We’re working toward an in-house cardboard recycling program, but for now we can’t accept cardboard drop-offs; most local waste commissions take cardboard recycling for free, so yours can live a long, flattened second life.
Send Photos & Get Entered to Win $500
We’d love to see your finished space! Once your cabinets are installed, email your photos to info@blueprintcabinets.ca (project location and a quick description are helpful too).
Every customer who shares photos is automatically entered into our annual $500 draw (cash or a $500 gift card — your choice). Your project doesn’t need to be 100% finished — we’ll happily take photos at any stage. One winner is drawn at random each year.
Bonus: Your photos may also be featured to inspire future projects.
