What Does "Flat Pack" Actually Mean?
Flat pack means your cabinets are shipped disassembled, with all the parts laid flat inside the box to protect them during transit. They get dropped off curbside at your home. From there, you assemble the boxes yourself or have an installer do it for you.
This is not the same as cheap particle board furniture from a big box store. Our cabinet boxes are 5/8″ inch maple plywood, and have 3/4″ birch faceframes, which is the same hardwood used in high-end custom cabinetry. The drawer boxes are built with dovetail joints so they will not come apart on you over time.
What Is Included When the Cabinets Arrive?
Everything you need to build and hang the cabinet boxes comes in the package, with one exception: handles. Here is a quick breakdown of what is and is not included.
- Included: Cabinet panels, drawer slides, hinges, screws, and all necessary hardware to assemble the boxes
- Not included: Handles or pulls (we sell those separately)
- Not pre-drilled: Handle holes are not pre-drilled because everyone chooses different hardware placement
So when your cabinets arrive, you are getting a complete, ready-to-assemble kit. You just supply the handles and the countertops separately.
What Tools Do You Need to Assemble Flat Pack Cabinets?
The bare minimum is wood glue and a screwdriver, though a drill will save your wrist and a brad nailer will significantly speed up the process. Assembly is straightforward. You apply wood glue along the seams, hold the panels together, and drive the screws in.
If you have a brad nailer, you can tack pieces together while the glue is still wet, which lets you move through the boxes much faster. Most homeowners are surprised by how manageable it is. That said, installation, meaning leveling and securing cabinets to the wall, is a separate step that many people hire out.

Our manufacturer packages carefully, but not every shipping company handles freight with the same care. We take responsibility for making it right either way.
